Every day, more than 1,000 accidents caused by falls are suffered in German companies, an above average number of which have such serious consequences that they result in the total or partial incapacity of those affected. This makes falling and twisting accidents four to five times more expensive than other industrial accidents. This is also felt by the companies who have to bear the consequential costs of such accidents.
The economic costs of lost working hours, for example, which the German economy incurs as a result of falling and twisting accidents, are already estimated at 8 billion Euros. And the employers‘ liability insurance associations alone have to spend around 330 million Euros annually for the follow-up costs for accidents in the workplace.
