Covering a total area of 5,250 square metres, the 16 sides of the racks are 19.1 metres high and 93.2 metres long, offering space for around 1.4 million pairs of shoes and uppers in 143,840 boxes.<\/p>\n<p>The first implementation steps for the successful warehouse launch already took place during the construction period &#8211; including the introduction of new software in inventory logistics. \u2018We brought the automated small parts warehouse to life in stages. Even if the implementation phase takes longer and seems more cost-intensive as a result, we were able to minimise risks and maintain logistics processing,\u2019 says Georg Maxwill, Head of Supply behaviour of customers. The consignment structures have become much smaller, while the selection has increased. \u2018We can now respond even better to the individual requirements of our customers. Overall, we are well equipped for the future thanks to the extension,\u2019 says Maxwill. This is due to the reduction in throughput times and increased flexibility in logistics.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of autumn, ELTEN will have converted the logistics building from 2002. A three-level platform is planned, and the conveyor technology for dispatch and outgoing goods will be expanded. \u2018When everything is ready in the fourth quarter, all processes in the logistics centre at Elten will have changed,\u2019 says Maxwill. The stocks from the external warehouses in other towns and municipalities will also be stored centrally at the logistics centre in Uedem in future.<\/p>\n<p>The family business has also adapted to the requirements of today&#8217;s world in terms of energy: ELTEN has installed a photovoltaic system with 970 kilowatts peak on the roof of the entire logistics centre. This means that the logistics centre can be operated almost entirely self-sufficiently.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
