LIGHT SAFETY SHOES: TRANSFOAMERS WITH THEIR UNIQUE MIDSOLE COMPOUND
These shoes are so light that you can barely tell that you’re wearing a safety shoe. It’s little wonder, seeing that from the moment we began designing this shoe series, we set about seeing how far we could go with regard to reducing weight. And we discovered that we can go a long way to achieve light safety shoes! The centrepiece of the TRANSFOAMERS shoe series is the special foaming in the midsole. This is made up of two layers: EVA and TPU. Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has a low weight combined with a very high resistance to bending and tearing. The lightweight EVA plastic, which is commonly used in the midsoles of many running shoes, has special cushioning properties, so that it can be optimally used for light safety shoes.
LESS IS BETTER – FOR LIGHT SAFETY SHOES
“Less weight” was also the deciding criterion when selecting the other materials used to create this shoe series. For example, a new textile fabric as anti-perforation protection. This makes the shoe even lighter and more flexible. And also safer. Regarding toe cap protection: for the safety shoes within this shoe series we opted for a carbon fibreglass cap. This is of course lighter than steel caps, for example, but is also lighter than other plastic caps, such as a standard fibreglass cap.
