Especially in large production facilities, in which a large number of machines are operating, the air quickly heats up. This results in high temperatures in the workplace – and work itself becomes much more difficult. In non-air-conditioned workspaces, things can get particularly heated. That’s why we’ve developed safety sandals that give your feet the cooling relief they need on hot days. Our safety sandals are comfortable to wear and, thanks to their simple fastening system, whether with Velcro or our BOA® Fit System, they are quick to put on and sit snugly around the foot. Open air holes and a breathable inner lining guarantee a pleasant shoe climate – for optimal comfort even on hot work days.
Sandals that noticeably relieve the strain when working
Comfort has long been a decisive criterion when buying shoes. After all, you move around in your safety shoes for several hours every day. Anyone who is constantly on their feet for long periods of time and performs activities while standing or walking knows how important good cushioning is. If the surface does not have shock-absorbing properties, the constant strain on your feet – something you are exposed to on long working days anyway – will only increase. This can have a negative impact on your health and lead to permanent discomfort.
For this reason, a number of our safety sandals make use of modern sole technologies for optimal cushioning. For instance, this is true of our LONNY red Easy ESD S1P and IMPULSE XXT blue Easy ESD S1 models, which feature our so-called WELLMAXX cushioning. The high-tech Infinergy® material from BASF in the sole core relieves the joints when walking, thanks to effective cushioning. By means of small foam beads in the sole core, the safety sandals prevent the foot from becoming overtired, by returning the majority of the energy back to you. This is easy on the joints and provides noticeable relief for your feet. In addition, the breathable textile lining inside the sandals ensures that your feet remain at a comfortable temperature. Slip-resistant outsoles provide the necessary grip, meaning the safety sandals are also suitable for wearing on slippery surfaces.
Our safety sandals to help prevent slips
On slippery industrial floors in particular, the shoes must provide a secure grip and minimise the risk of slipping or twisting an ankle. If performing activities on smooth floors such as tiles, paving or mosaics, the outsole of a safety sandal must be particularly slip-resistant. This is achieved, for example, by means of small honeycomb structures in the tread. They generate negative pressure and a kind of suction effect. This achieves SR-rated slip resistance. SR means that the sole passed the optional testing on ceramic tiles with glycerine.
One such safety sandal with an outsole in “honeycomb design” is the AMBITION blue Easy ESD S1, which features special contact surfaces for almost frictionless turning on the spot – specially designed for hard, smooth floor surfaces. If you often turn while standing, there are ergonomic pivot points to make turning easier.
Different professions, different safety sandals
Because every work area involves different hazards, specially adapted safety footwear is essential. White safety sandals such as the WHITE Easy Low ESD S1 or the PURE Easy ESD S1 are particularly suitable for white areas where hygiene is important. These include within the food industry or the healthcare sector, including in large kitchens, hospitals or laboratories. The upper material of the safety sandals is liquid-repellent and easy to clean – of particular benefit in the aforementioned work areas. Another plus: the WHITE and PURE Easy are harmless to those with allergies to tanning agents, as they are leather-free. Safety sandals designed especially for women’s feet
When developing our sandals, we consider it important that we consider the anatomy of each individual foot as best as we possibly can. With regard to the female foot, this requires a rethink, since compared to men’s feet, women’s feet are narrower and flatter. Safety shoes for men are generally not suitable for women. Even unisex models often fail to offer what women’s feet need. Therefore, to prevent pressure points and tension, there are some safety sandals that are manufactured on women’s lasts. And our range of women’s models continues to grow. Here the focus is not only on safety, but also on comfort and design.
The MADDIE grey Easy ESD S1P women’s safety sandal, for example, is characterised by practicality and comfort. It consists of an outsole with Infinergy® by BASF in the sole core. This enables maximum damping through effective energy return. In addition, the safety sandal has a practical Velcro closure. As a result, nothing stands in the way of you pulling them quickly on and off.
A mix of safety, comfort and design
In addition to convenient features, women’s sandals such as the MILA aqua Easy ESD S1 meet the standards of safety classes S1 or S1P. The MILA is equipped with an ESD-capable insole and prevents electrostatic discharge. The built-in steel toe cap protects against impact and provides comfortable toe clearance. As such, not only is it part of the wearer’s personal protective equipment (PPE), it is also a health-promoting shoe that meets the requirements for dry work areas.
