Find the right fit with Ergo-Active 2.0
Too wide, too narrow, too long, too short? Not with Ergo-Active 2.0! ELTEN has been working intensively with scientific experts for many years to develop the perfect-fitting safety shoe. The Ergo-Active System offers three different fits for the most common foot types to offer an individual fit, proper foot support and superlative comfort. Now also available in smaller sizes from shoe size 36.
What is Ergo-Active?
There are a variety of foot types. To ensure perfectly fitting safety shoes to suit everyone’s feet, in joint collaboration with Prof. Dr Grau (University of Tübingen/Gothenburg), we have developed Ergo-Active. With the same shoe size, one of three feet may be a little larger than the average, while the next may be much wider. With such deviations from the “average width”, even if the shoe size is correct in length, this does not mean that the foot protection fits properly. It may be too tight and not correspond to the different foot proportions that are dependent on the width. If the shoe is still worn, the feet will hurt. Otherwise, a shoe may be chosen that is too long, with the risk of tripping accidents. As a result of this, we have developed a customized multiple width system that enables us to offer all wearers a shoe that fits them individually.
Always one step ahead: Ergo-Active 2.0
While the feet of test persons were measured statically during the development of the first Ergo Active generation, for Ergo-Active 2.0 it was possible for the first time to measure the feet in motion. The researchers at the University of Tübingen/Gothenburg thus found that feet change during movement regarding certain width dimensions, foot length or the circumference of the back of the foot. With this knowledge, the first-generation fit types were used as a basis and further fit types were developed. This made it possible to optimize the properties of the lasts and certain materials could be used in a function-oriented way. In addition, wearers can now choose from two different cap widths and three different outsole types to customize their perfect model.
Three outsole
A decisive criterion for the safety and well-being of a shoe wearer is the quality of the outsole of his shoe. The material, profile depth and profile design must be adapted to the respective place of use. Many variants are possible here – depending on the peculiarities and specific conditions of a workplace.
The indoor sole
In workplaces where standing and walking activities are evenly balanced, the challenge is that maximum slip resistance often excessively slows down the dynamics of the rotary movement during standing activities. This is where the four pivot points of the Multicolor TPU sole offer the solution. They decisively reduce frictional resistance during turning. Examples of ELTEN models that can be combined very well with this type of sole are the airy safety sandals Impulse EA blue Easy and Anthony red Easy, the sporty William blue as well as the Till Boa EA with the practical twist closure BOA® Fit System.
3 foot types x 3 outsoles x 2 cap widths
The PU indoor/outdoor sole
The PU sole is suitable for all those who vary their place of work between indoors and outdoors. It is available with or without a TPU scuff cap, depending on whether extra tip protection is required for kneeling activities. Examples of models that also combine well with the Allrounder sole are the Matthew, the Daniel Pro or the Mason Pro models. This is because Matthew is also available as Matthew Pro GTX, which is fitted with water-repellent Gore-Tex as well as a TPU scuff cap.
The RUBBER indoor/outdoor sole
Consisting of coarse rubber and with a tread depth of 4.5 mm, this sole is suitable for indoor and outdoor activities that require a very robust shoe. In this case, we recommend the robust Mason Pro RU made of cowhide leather.
Two toe caps
In addition, two toe cap versions with different amounts of space allow sufficient room for the toes in the forefoot area as well and enable orthopaedic adjustments of the insoles.

The insole: comfort is an individual matter
People’s feet are as different as they are. To provide optimal support for the shape of each foot, our Ergo-Active 2.0 series offers an insole with a longitudinal arch support. This ensures good cushioning and even weight distribution, which in turn helps relieve pain and pressure points. Your feet will be comfortably softly cushioned and tire less easily. Your back will also feel much more comfortable instantly due to the cushioning of your steps.
